Specific Messages
When you try to post or save something that does not meet the editing standards of the system, a message will display.
It may be a Confirm
which requires you to select your choice for continuing.
It may be a Warning
which does not require any action other than clicking OK.
It may be a Stop
which indicates that you cannot proceed without fixing or entering something. If that is the case, when you click OK the cursor will be in the field that needs an entry.
It may be a General Protection Fault
General Protection Fault (GPF) errors are reported by Windows under a number of varying circumstances. Most of the time they are related to memory allocation and resource availability issues. A GPF is the Windows way of saying "I'm confused and have lost control over what is going on."
Two things should be done when you get a GPF.

Write down the error message. If you consistently get the same error let us know what it is and what you were doing when it occurred.

Get out of Windows and then come back in. Do not continue - even if the system lets you.
|
A GPF message is reporting that Windows is in an unstable mode - always exit Windows before proceeding.
