This is a required field in the definition of an account under Setup, Accounts. It can be in any numeric format from 1 to 99999.9999.
The ledger in most systems is the ID for the account code. Although most users prefer name ID’s, you can set the ID to the ledger code.
The ledger code determines the sequence of appearance on financial reports if the Show Ledger Codes checkbox is marked in the Management Group profile. Unless you have reason to provide financial reports to someone interested in seeing the ledger codes you can enter any numbers for this field.
You can also set the Show Ledger Codes checkbox in Setup, Database Settings, Financial Report.
